i have a man rose shower extractor with built in light. I wish for this to be on a separate light switch to the other bathroom lights, as it's above the shower cubicle and only needs switching in when that is used. My mate who is a sparky started wireing it up, but I think he is cutting a corner rather that put two light switches in he was using the bathroom light switch and an isolator next to it. I don't want this as it look crap. I think he was going to wire into the lighting circuit and use the isolator as the switch for the shower fan. Surely what I want is two light switches and then a separate isolator with that placed above the door? I.e. One light switch for existing lights and then a new one for the fan with its light?

He might not believe me but it is true.

It's called local isolation and the regulations do not demand it for any appliance - not even the cooker.

So another pull switch near the shower cubical ? How far away does it need to be?

P.s are harger isolator pull sw easy operation or a big thunk?

Given that an overrun fan is the most sensible type in a shower room, you wouldn't use an isolator for functional switching.
