Hi.

I am wanting to put up a pull-chord light switch within a walk-in wardrobe. There is already a light in this area in the ceiling. Also in the ceiling are two sets of cables hanging down, both have red, black and green/yellow cables within each set.

I do not know which cable to wire the switch to. I have put the red in the COM, the black in the L1 and left the yellow/green to one side. Light didn't work.

I tried using the other set of cables and it tripped the fuse. I reset the fuse and tried again, and once more the fuse tripped out. What do I need to do?

It's no good guessing, you need to identify what the other ends of the cables are connected to.

If you have popped the breaker on the circuit, you may have damaged your switch too.
