Hi all, I have just tried to replace an old light with a new one, but the new light only hase two places to wire in (brown and blue) and the earth. The old wires are black, red, and earth. The light should work off of two switches. I checked other lights in the house and wired them up black-brwon, red-blue and earthed it. It works, but won't turn off! Any ideas?

If the wiring colours are equivalent to UK then you have committed one of the worst crimes possible.

Red should go to Brown, Black to Blue. The reason that the light is always on is because the current path is flowing directly through the light and down to earth. This means that the light is permanently live and you have created an accident waiting to happen. The fact that the light is on would indicate that you don't have the fail safe protection of an earth leakage breaker.

Get a life and someone who knows what they're doing to sort your lights out.
