Hi all,

I was hoping someone can help me. I have a dimmable floor lamp in the flat. The dimmer is the one pictured on the left >> http://www.kaoyi.com/products.aspx?ProductsCateID=304&CateID=304&CurrCateID=304.

I accidentally nicked the cable from the lamp to the controller but the one from the controller to the plug is ok. I was wondering how easy it would be to snip the nicked part and rewire the rest of the good cable into the controller? I cant open it at the moment as I haven't got the right size screwdriver. Without opening it I can't really tell what I'm in for. Would the connections be as easy as wiring a plug?

It will not be as easy as wiring a plug. It is almost certain that the leads will be soldered onto the printed circuit board so you will have to un-solder the damaged wires, clean the area of the board and then solder the wires in the good cable onto the board in the same places.

If you are very unlucky you may find the wires in the cable are spot welded to the board and that will be difficult to remove without damaging the PCB.

Ok it wasnt really me, it was someone else's pet and it chewed up the earth and live wires. Fortunately for me I managed to pry it open today and only had to snip and rewire! Thanks for the help.
