Hello.

I am putting in a drop ceiling island and am wanting LED lights and downlights built in so that the light switch switches them on.

The LED lights have to be plugged in so my intention is to put a splitter on the cable where the light is now and have a plug on the ceiling which will be hidden to power the LED lights and also have a wire for the 6 downlights.

Does this sound OK or is it a big NO NO.

Thank You in advance.

Hopefully you mean putting a socket outlet in the ceiling to plug the LED lights into. If so that is fine, provided the socket and any other connections are accessible.

Yeah the socket will be for the LED lights to plug into which will be wired to the junction box and then another cable from the junction box will be used to power the downlights.

When i click the light switch the lights come on.

Is it ok to fit a 13 amp socket outlet to a lighting circuit?
