wiring - replacing a cooker hood extractor fan motor

Fan motor on the extractor fan went. It is a three speed hood. So I took out the motor and bought a genetic replacement. The original has four wires, three go to a block by the three speed switches (red, brown and black) and a blue wire goes directly to what I think is the switch that turns off the fan if the hood is closed.

The new motor has four wires, but instead of a blue it has a white one. So question is, why and is this just a case of put the white where the blue went on the original, or is there some other configuration going on here?

thanks

Did the motor not come with any wiring diagram? Any of the colours could mean anything and there is no set standard.

This might help.
I sketched it for another member some time back.
It's a fairly common generic set up.
