The room originally was a bedroom with two way switching. A two way switch near the door and a pull switch for the ceiling light. I would like to retain the ceiling light without the two way facility and install wall lights in the wall near the pull switch. Is it possible to fit a double plate switch and utilise the wiring from the pull switch to feed the wall lights?

Almost certainly not. It is likely that the only conductors present at the switches are live and switched live and you need a neutral to make the wall lights work.

As for converting the existing ceiling light to one-way, it depends on how the two switches are interconnected - the simplest method is to cut off the pull switch cord!

You need to find out exactly how this lighting circuit is wired before anybody can tell you much more. Try reading the post called 'For Reference' at the top of the forum.
