Wisdom of pumping off the main...

Thank you all for your sensible and helpful replies to what felt like a daft question. I've never heard of a break tank and this looks like it might be worth a good look.
I do have the space (and reinforcement) for a clean tank in the loft too, but a little concerned about the noise of a pump. Without one, being a bungalow, I'm thinking it'll be worse than a direct mains feed.
I have a hefty shower pump already, which is way too loud to consider for something like this which will be in constant use.
