My neighbour is just having his whole ground floor of our semi-detached done in Quickstep Aquanto. I wouldn't want to say the guy fitting doesn't know what he is doing, he's the carpenter on their extension, overall it seems a neat job, but I noticed at least one spot where there was 'give' in the flooring.
The 60's semi had finger parquet laid originally on concrete slab, they are laying the flooring straight on that. It's where walls have been taken out that I think less attention has been paid to levels, dips etc. I'd assume similar specs for laying vinyl applies to laminates, the final result is only as good as the base layer....
Really my question is, we want to do something very similar on our half of the semi, and rather than use a carpenter who works with the builder on the rest of the renovation, should I be looking for an independent fitter who does this day in day out? It may be a bit more expensive, but get a better job.
