Hi i am planning to lay down an 18mm thick oak floor in the living room.I have removed the carpets from the hallway and living room and discovered a lovely parquet tile flooring in the hallway which i like but of course the wife doesn't!the problem is whoever put it down has continued with the bitumen into the living room presumeably to keep it as level as possible through the two rooms. It seems pretty level so is it possible to glue the new wood to the existing floor or float it on top or do i need to take it all the bitumen up to work on the concrete below?

cheers
