Good afternoon just on removing a 50mm block wall between toilet and bathroom upstairs wall is built on floorboards and nothing running above it in the loft ex council house 1960’s.
Noticed some timber in the wall 3/4 of the way up, in line with top of door frame just wondering if anybody has come across similar thanks

Thanks but it has block work up to it then couple blocks above it so not sure why it’s there to be honest

what height is it?

is that a boxed-in section?

It’s approx 1600mm high, 50mm block dividing toilet and bathroom nailed to edge of wooden door frame and finishes at the wall. Thanks

A distance picture may help to clarify what the full wall looks like.

Some walls look like block walls but are in fact stud walls with brick infill. Our house is like that upstairs- wall stands on floorboards and double joist. Studs fixed to ceiling joists, sole plate, noggins and brick infill.

This is the only wood in the wall, wall runs opposite way to joist above and below was literally built off floor boards and easy to remove

Because they framed out the doors first then built the walls, ours are similar only the timbers are vertical instead of horizontal in the wall. Not sure why they did that, but that's how it is!
