Hi all I’m on prepping the bathroom ready to tile and noticed the internal wall has a gap where it meets the external wall. The wall is around 3 inches thick and not a supporting wall looks like it may have being built off the floorboards to be honest house is 1960/70’s council house. Any ideas or advice on best way to deal with this Thanks

Should I fill crack in with mortar prior to tiling the wall is upstairs and built off existing floorboards thanks

If there is nothing wrong with the wall now, you don't need to do anything to it.

Was just concerned about the gap and why isn’t there it was masked previously from browning/plaster looks as though it’s pulled away from exterior wall now think may be caused because built on floorboards

The gap has been there a long time, and the only difference is that you can now see it

Do the question remains the same, "Was there a problem with the wall before you stripped the room, and saw the gap?"

No doesn’t seem to have a problem just the gap that has me worried the next question is will tiles onto this wall cause anymore damage or the gap to become wider because of the extra weight thanks

If the wall is going to move, it is going to move because of whatever is supporting it at floor level or whatever is (or isn't) tying it in to the outside walls, and not whether you fix any tiles to it or not.

So for clarity, you either leave it as it is if it's OK, or if it's not OK you either knock it all down and replace it, or knock the blocks out at the wall junction and tie it to the outside wall.

So basically if it’s being like that for years and still standing tiling the wall is not going to make much difference to it. The floorboards should be able to take the extra weight of the tiles excellent thanks for your help
