In the past I have used Ronseal and other brands like Cuprinol and Sikkens of wood preserver on table and chairs and do not know which one is best. Some seem to be like a plastic film over the wood and others seem to soak in and I cannot remember which one is which. I much prefer the stain and preserver that soaks in because the plastic film type tends to bubble and peel off in my experience.

I would be grateful for any advice concerning which one is best.

Thanks for the advice. By the way, the words of the Serenity Prayer go:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
