Hi

I have a hunter midi 20 multi fuel boiler stove that I want to connect into my exiting C/H system, this is a gas combi.

Is this possible/safe ?

I have considered disconnecting the c/h system from the combi boiler thus leaving it to provide instant hot water,

Then convert the c/h system into a open circuit and use the stove to heat the rads.

The obvious down side is that my wife will have to get up very early to light the stove so that the house will be warm for me Lol !

Any advice will be welcome

Yes, it is possible. You can use your combi to supply taps in say the kitchen and utillity and then put your heating circuit on either a Y or an S plan to heat a twin coil open vented cylinder and some of the radiators. Then you can use your multifuel to heat the water and some of the other radiators or towel rails..... Both circuits must be separate from each other and the multifuel must be open vented...

You can't simply disconnect the heating circuit from a combi and expect it to work.. It will be expensive

could also be worth looking up dunsley neutraliser.

I would run the stove dry. They are not an efficient means of heating water, and you have to run it carefully to avoid corroding the woodburner.
