Mod please delete, the head contractor has been quite decent and is rectifying the work. Happy days .... glad it will be completed properly. Case of workers doing what they wanted without communicating with the boss.

Well why didn't you take it out before they got there then? It's only stuck in a Metpost.

It was taken out, they put it back after finishing and cut a perfectly flat wall (and stop bead underneath) to put it in.

Take the post out and get them to fill the hole and render over it. Or am I missing something?

The point is this an external wall insulation system which should ensure water seal. If they just render the hole would this not reduce the u value in this area as there would be less insulation. Also the under metallic stop bead which has a hole in it ? I don't know which is why I am asking the advice on this forum with more knowledge.

They would fill the hole with insulation and then render over that not fill the whole hole with render, I thought that was obvious? They'll just join the existing stop bead with the new bit surely? Really this sector of the industry is in its infancy, many of these firms are not specialist builders but making a quick buck and the workforce reflect that. They need to be spoon fed or you end up with a bag of spanners like this.
