Wooden floor (Engineered)

Hello, my wood floor is pulling apart where it fits around the fireplace.
As there is an expansion gap and then the strip fits over the gap.
Was thinking of putting some wood in the gap to prevent this or should I use cork? Or I could just try re glue it?

Yeah cork will work or use a square edge trim like Incizo bar
