One of the bedrooms upstairs has a huge hole in he chipboard flooring. It has got much bigger from walking on it and only for the carpet, one's foot hasn't went thorugh the ceiling below.

I never liked chipboard and was wondering what sort of alternative flooring should I choose instead? I have looked at previous threads and there is a lot of talk regarding plyboard and t&g boards.

What is the best choice?

Also, bearing in mind I am replacing the bedroom floor, I also need to replace the upstairs bathroom floor which got damaged due to a water leak so a suggested flooring for this bathroom would be more than welcome. I plan to tile this floor afterwards.

Cheers for any info you guys can give.
