My wife has this dream of ripping out the UPVC windows/fresh door and replacing them with double glazed wooden (preferably oak) windows.

Do I need to double my weekly pound on the lottery to fund this adventure?

Does anyone know a cheap way to do this - I had heard you could gett them made aborad (ie Poland) and shipped over for a big saving.

Any guidance on price appreciated.

Good idea, have them made abroad, then you and everyone else can wonder why there is no one left in this country who can do anything. Smart move.

Find a local joiner rather than a window company .
What area are you in ?

Oilman - see you point here but needs must - this is what the European Union is all about! If a local joiner can do it (or even one not so local) then I'd be up for it!

I'm in Herts - near Hemel Hempsted.

Not too far from me but i'm stacked with work right now .
