Wooden Table - Type and Sanding / Colour

I am looking at colouring the table we have as its fading. I have tried a wood dye and some coloured wax but it just fades again quickly as I guess the wood is sealed?

Is this type of table OK to sand down? top where the kids sit

side of the leg, like new

You can sand but if it’s a veneer will severely limit the amount of sanding .
Wood dye only works on bare wood.
A pic of the entire table might help .

So sand a little then paint? The wife is on about covering it with a stick on vinyl marble effect, no chance!

Probably better solution, or spray with textured paint.
Above pic is a table wife bought in ikea sale , damaged, in purple(yuk).Sprayed with stone effect paint and added clear top.
