I am renovating a cottage and pulled out the old upstairs carpets to reveal the old floor boards. Most seem in good shape but I'm no expert. I have taken some pics here. Can anyone please advise the following:

1. if this is a woodworm issue
2. what is the best way to treat
3. should I just replace them

Yes, that's woodworm, but those boards look pretty old, so it's probably damage from a long time ago. Our house has similar damage on the top floor, so I had the attic room boards treated by a local pest control firm. In the last 20 or so years there's been no sign of activity

Thanks. Would you suggest just replacing them? Did you see any damage to your joists? Would you say these look in bad shape? How much was the pest control?

If the floor is ventilated underneath, the room is heated and the boards are solid underfoot, I wouldn't worry about them.

I'd do something about that plastic window though. Few things wreck the beauty of an old house more than a plastic window.

Cheers

There's nothing wrong with those boards. Those flight holes are probably two hundred years old!
