A Worcester 230 combi under direct mains pressure feeds a kitchen mixer tap, and the same pipe run continues to a bathroom sink mixer tap [and bath/shower].

The kitchen tap, installed in June, is a Hansgrohe Focus E mixer tap which has a flow rate of 12 l/min. at 3 bar. All worked well until recently. Either tap when drawing hot water would cause the combi to come on, so long as the flow was above half way or so between the off and full on position.

When the flow was lower than this the combi did not ignite, or cut off, probably because of the flow sensor.

This week, with the central heating on, the kitchen tap will not ignite the boiler even when full on. The bathroom basin tap continues to fire up the 230 ok.

Turn off the [2 bedroom flat] central heating, and after a few minutes the kitchen tap will enable ignition again.

Unable to find a service manual online except for the 24CDi/28CDi/35CDii (are they similar ?) can someone confirm if the Worcester 230's flow sensor is adjustable ? Or is this likely to be another case of the infamous Worcester diverter valve playing up ?

Its not adjustable.

Its the standard diverter valve which is not notorious and similar to most fitted to boilers from 1970 to about 2000.

you can adjust flow rate on gianonni valves. black plastic nut on diaphragm section. unlikely to make much of a difference to to your problem and they often leak if you touch them.

it will be the diaphragm gone in the end of the diverter valve .....new valve or service kit it will be.......

The flow rate adjuster is just that but does not have any significant affect on the flow rate at which the valve switches to provide a demand for DHW.

Thats preset in the design.

The only one that does have an adjustment is the older vaillant 242 but even that is rarely adjusted and few know how to set them and I dont think its in the book either.
