Just moved into a new place.

Boiler pressure was on zero so filled it up to 1 bar.

Heating and hot water work but notice that the pressure went up to near 3 bar when the heating was on. Then I notice a leak coming out from underneath.

Appreciate a diagnosis might be tough, but given the boiler is pretty old is there any merit in getting someone out to repair, or should I just take the plunge for a new boiler?

Thanks

Boiler running increases pressure so finds any weak spots, could just be a compression joint in need of a tweak.

Not sure whether you are indicating one of the pipes leaking or the big red expansion vessel.
Did you re-pressure when cold to 1 bar?
Also are you sure that you turned the filling loop off fully?
If the pressure was 1 bar when cold and no chance of filling loop adding more pressure then it sounds like the expansion vessel has had it or wants re-charging.
If the leak is coming from the vessel then it has had it.

Hi,

Sorry for my slow reply.

Yes, refilled when cold to 1 bar and then key removed.

The leak looks to be coming from
somewhere unseen above the orange vessel but trickling down and dripping out from the bottom of it.

Gas safe man coming Monday to look so we will see...

Get the boiler serviced, it may be leaking from the expansion vessel, either from the vessel itself or the schraeder valve on top. The service should identify
