hi, had a call out last night, see if you can make anything of this; W/B24i located in back room of a fish&chippy. so they say 8pm 1 of the only 3 rads starts to leek from the drain plug (a lot) they tighten it up then 8.45 no hot water (ok the system is drained and so trips out) 9.30 BIG flood as a polypipe fitting on the dhw gives way (smack bang over the boiler) i get there fix joint, dry it all out re-fill and purge. boiler fires up on C/H but won't pick up a demand for DHW at all. I'm thinking circuit switch not flow.

What do I think of that?

It makes me wonder if there was some element of sobatage wanting a new boiler!

Did they want you to FIX boiler or condemn it so they could claim on their insurance.

Possibly DHW flow switch needs drying out more!

Tony

There is some sort of a design fault with 24i .That allows the boiler to fire up when the heating side is empty causing it to do what a multipoint does when the push rod sticks and keeps the gas on . Getting far too hot and wter turning to steam in domestic circuit
It then blows usually the cold water inlet off causing a flood, i have seen it twice .
Once blowing a 6 inch split into plastic the other caused multiple leeaks all the wy back to the stop cock.

flow switch may have got damaged

Mmm no they wanted it fixed, it could be the flow swt. just thought it was a strange set of events  thanks. J.
