My Worcester 24i boiler has had a problem for a few months now. When I open a hot water tap, the water remains hot for about 15mins. Usually, by the time I get in the shower, it will come on at first and then wait until I have soap in my eyes, before plunging to about 8 degrees. If one gives the boiler a smack, sometimes it will re-light, enabling me to enter the shower again, where the water has shot up to about 80 degrees.
Now the weather is getting colder, I have put the heating on for an or so at night. This seems OK but the other night the fan seemed to be making a noise.
I have had the circuit board out and looked for any dry joints or loose bits. Sometimes, it has lured me into thinking that I have fixed it by fiddling or re-soldering, but it waits until I have relaxed for a few days, before launching another assault.
Apart from the torture effect, which I am getting used to, I appear to be missing something. I have tried looking for a technical manual, but Worcester Bosch only seem to up-to-date manuals for their most recent boilers.
I used to have a contract with npower to come and service the boiler, after a plumbers bill of £420 stung me, for a new circuit board, after a safety valve leak.
The chap came to service it every 6 months but said he could find no fault. ( Of course the thing behaved itself when he arrived ). I cancelled the contract, as I couldn't see what I was paying for. I appreciate that you are all hard working honest guys, like myself, but could you spare any time to point me in the right direction, even if it is to point me in the direction of a new boiler.
Many Thanks
Fiddler
