If it's the 28i RSF the dial may off broken off in the potentiometer.
Or if you mean the room thermostat then it's either turned up full on the boiler. Or the links for the ex controls are still in the board.

The extreme end where it enters the pot on the PCB can break off so you rotate the knob but nothing happens.
In most cases the pot can just be turned to the required setting and left there.
But a new knob is available if required.
Probably better not to get involved with the boiler though if you are there to fit a bathroom!

stat correctly inserted into potentiometer, but no heat control.
Also how easy is it to replace a complete new pump and not just the pump head?
Its corroded but the top union looks like it could be a pain?
Am I on the right track?
