How hard is it to change the PCB board on the boiler?

I got told that its just plug and play but need to know where the board is and how mard it is to change

Cheers in advance

not difficult at all, its in the plastic housing at the bottom of the boiler, behind the contols on the front.

be careful with this one though. there are two pcb's available depending on the serial number of the boiler.

3 Month Guarantee....WOW

BTW the top link is the wrong boiler.

forget the first one, its a for a different boiler.

im always suspicious of recon pcb's, no valid reason for that though as ive repaired several myself.

whoever you get it from take the old one out and check the part number first...he says that one is 8 748 300 4840 but i know there is another one for the same boiler as ive made this mistake once.

A brand new one is not all that much more and you get a 12 month warranty.. I had a pal who used to sell reconditioned PC parts on ebay... What he used to do is strip a dead computer, sell the bits and give folk their money back if the parts were DOA... Not saying that these guys do this, but it makes me suspicious

thanks for the advice fella's

im just gonna buy a new one

where is the best place to buy

hi folks

i changed the PCB with a brand new one but when i switch power back on the light starts flashing even though the boiler is not heating

what could be wrong?

i dropped the black thing at the back of the pcb board - could this be the problem?
it didnt drop far but i dont know what the part is and how sensitive it is

if its not that what could it be?

You never said what the original fault was. Is this new one different?
Have you tried resetting the boiler?
Is there water in the boiler. (pressure guage about 1bar?)

One wonders why you wanted to change the PCB !

A professional would diagnose the fault and change whatever is faulty!

just to clear things up

I didn't diagnose the fault. An engineer called when I had a fault with the boiler and said it was due to a faulty pcb and has only patched it up but if it goes again then I'll need to change the board - the fault has come back and I've tried changing the board and still doesn't work. The pressure is at 1.5 and it's like the thing first ignite. I will probably call a different engineer out as I don't know what the problem is. I just thought I'd ask on here in case it was a simple issue

How do I reset the boiler? All I've done is press the flashing button till it stops flashing - is there another way?

Its always better to let the engineer change the part he says is faulty and then if he is proved to be wrong then he can bear the cost of the part which he has wrongly diagnosed as the problem.

Tony

reset the boiler by turning the switch off (usually near the boiler) and on again, or by isolating the 3 amp fuse from the spur that supplies the CH and HW controls. then turn the power back on again!

UPDATE on my drama's

i changed the pcb board and now ive changed the gas valve and still the boiler doesnt work

the light flashes once every second

when you 1st turn on the power to the boiler it waits a few seconds and the fault light comes on when you reset it (pressing it for 5 seconds) then the boiler seems to come to life but still no heat.

The boiler doesnt light up - everything else is working but seems theres no gas going to the burner. The ignition sparks a few times and then the light comes on the front indicating a fault.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with this boiler

My plumber keeps letting me down hence why i do a lot of these jobs myself.
