hi,

Boiler fine on hot water. When i put CH on flame lights to heat water. Then something switches as though pump is coming on, Pressure quickly rises from 1 to 3 bar and boiler cuts out. Pressure then drops back to original level.

Cheers,

Graham

Check the pump is isint stuck especially if its the first time you have put the heating on after summer.

Hi Picasso, thank you for the quick reply. I've been having a play this morning and noticed that the pump was getting hot but didn't sound like water was pumping. Took out the vent plug and spindle spins freely. Unplugged it from control board and put 240v directly to it via a plug lead. Pump humming but not a flicker of rotation.

Pump is obviously knackered. Just wondering if I can manage it myself or call someone in.

Cheers,

Graham

Ahh, am I right in thinking that if I get a direct replacement, I can just drain the system and swap the top (electrical) part without having to do any plumbing ?

Might be just the capacitor, try putting 240v the the pump and spinning the spindle with a screwdriver.

Nah, nothing. Can feel it buzzing slightly when I press against the spindle but can't get it to spin. Will just have to bite the bullet. Just had a quick glance and Plumb Center wants 171 bleedin quid !!!. Seen it for 88 on line but obviously have to wait for delivery.

Screw fix is 109 VAT inc for a grundfos UPS2 with a plumb fix account or 120 without it.

Plumb centre are 99 inc VAT at the minute.

Sorted now. Plumb centre was 79 + vat when I phoned. Don't know what's going in with their website, it must put people off phoning.

Anyway. Changed top part of the pump and it's working like a dream. The only sickening thing is when I had the old one out, and could give it a proper spin with my fingers, the bleedin thing started (':x')

Oh well. At least I'll be able to get a capacitor and do it up as a spare. Don't get much time to think straight when your missus is pacing up and down in a fleece with a load of damp washing ('')

Thanks very much for your help, very much appreciated.

Graham
