Hello,

I hope someone can (a) shed some light on what is happening here and (b) how to sort it out!

What happens is this.

Mid-afternoon, roughly 3:00-3:30ish, the boiler 'wakes up' and it sounds like the pump is running.

However, both the central heating and the domestic hot water is also off and there is no indication on the bolier's display that it is doing anything - eg heating water.

What is it doing and why. More to the point, is what it is oing important and if not, how do I stop it doing it?

To my way of thinking, if the pump is running unnecessarily, it is putting additional strain on the pump and it will ultimately wear out quicker.

Any advice welcome - and I'm quite happy to delve into the boiler's maintenance menus to change the required settings

Cheers,

XRD

Some boilers bring the pump on to prevent it seizing, maybe it’s this?

Thanks for the speedy reply! 4 mins - must be some sort of record.

Can't see anything in the manual about this setting

I’m not entirely sure then, unless you have weather compensation control? @martyndc88 may know or phone Worcester themselves

My Vaillant does the same, you would expect it to log that it had already been run in earnest, earlier in the day, and not bother with the anti-seize procedure - but no, it goes ahead irrespective. Not 4 minutes though, it just does a quick run of the fan and pump, long enough to prove they work I suppose, then off.
