No you need to disconnect it, and it is against site rules to hi jack other posts, if you want more advice start a fresh post as it gets very confusing trying to answer posts with different setups in them

start a fresh post and tell me what the existing thermostat is or post a pic of it, you can possibly use the wiring for that to install your nest
