I have a worcester 280 RSFand the small red button(overheat thermstat button) keeps popping up .this seems to happen most winters and then the problem resolves itself.I presume it overheating or the stat is too sensitive and needs to be replaced. The boiler is nearly 14 years old but has been a good workhorse and I do not wish to replace if possible.

Any expert advice would be really welcome.

could be a lot of things, including the OH stat or the thermistors. a major suspect is a blockage in the brass T-piece above the pump though.

Thanks Nickso

How would a Corgi plumber remove the blockage-is it necesssary to drain down the boiler?

drain down, remove pump and the blockage is usually directly above it. cant remember if the t-piece needs to come out or not, been a while since ive seen one of these.

if you remove the pump on these you usually have to renew the slip coupling below the pump as they generally leak badly afterwards.

could be a completely different fault though.
