I have been looking at getting some work trouser braces
I have the toughbuilt bib braces & double tong buckle belt -
and they are great when i have been out side and had the toughbuilt pouches attached - when working on gutters/fence etc etc
but not on indoor type projects
although got so feedup today - I will probably find them and use tomorrow

anyway

Doing a lot of DIY - fitting a kitchen units and the work trousers, i have with kneepad pockets and lots of extra pockets - keep falling down, even before i load up the pockets with various tools

I have a fully elasticated belt - but that does not seem to help - as i dont have a thin waste so hips dont support them at all , and so constantly pulling them up

i have been looking at sort of 2" heavy duty work braces on amazon / the sheds for a while now - BUT all the reviews often say - the adjuster does not stay - the clips break , they dont stretch so pull on shoulders (which i had on office / suit braces i have) , gone rusty - all within a few weeks or first time use , so spending £20+ seems a waste

anyway

the old posts here the links no longer work - or goto poor reviews

anyone got a suggestion where they work in them all day - indoor , maybe carpentry wardrobe kitchen fitting type of general DIY stuff

I tried wide braces for a while. I never found any that worked reliably.

You need braces that attach directly to buttons on the trousers and the braces have tough leather and the buttons are seriously well attached.

Otherwise they are ****ing useless.

We used those in the army with our No 2s. fasten by the buttons on the back and front of our trousers. Still got mine as they are really good quality.

thanks - I was sort of going that way
as the toughbuilt - belt & braces have loops on the belt and a sort of carabiner type connector - so i was sort of thinking this would be the type of connector

i thought about using a brace with a carabiner and putting them through the belt loops on the trousers - but feedback implies the loops break
so maybe I will talk nicely to my wife and see if she can put some buttons on , and then see what sort of braces are about

thanks for all the speedy responses

Hi, interesting subject.
I had same dilemma few years back.
I tried several types.
Bacho join in the back, bit uncomfortable but OK.
Wide-ones with carpentry print - look cool.
Skinny elastic ones stretch & snap lol.
All of them have pretty useless alligator type grips, that eventually tear the top of even tough jeans.

But few years back there were a few jobs where I could see (guys like me) working over head on ladders.
Guts were hanging over the trousers like a water filled bin bag  which was a revelation. Ugh !
And then a few years working away staying at dodgy B&B's living on takeaways really bough it home.
As many of these hotels like premier, travelodge etc all have these big full sized mirrors.
Getting out of the shower and dressed a few times with that sight was enough to make me diet.
Still have a bit of a gut but I can do the belt up now and don't way myself down with tool belts etc.

Also recently getting ill a lot and foamy pee.
Turns out to be pre-diabetes from too much crap food for years and potential kidney disease.
So if you 'need' braces, look after yourself 1st.
