I want to top off the Geberit cistern I', installing with a stone sill - but the local stonemasons (West London) quoted me £ 70. All I want is a small stone sill - not the Taj Mahal !

My question is, if I find someone who will cut me the sill to the right size, can I use a standard router to put a bevel-edge on it ? If so, what sort of bit do I need ? I'm assuming a Corian cutter isn't strong enough..

Depends on what sort of stone you intend to use but if its granite you will need a diamond impregnated bit and a water cooling system, the bit will alone will cost more than £70.

If its something softer and you only need a bevel then a carborundum stone and some elbow grease will work or a grinding (not cutting) disk in an angle grinder will also do the job.
