Hi wonder if anyone can help, we are on working tax credits and have been told about this scheme were you can get a grant to help with heating for your home, we rent our house and the heating is something to be desired we have one fire in the whole of the property to heat a two up two down house, can we get a grant on WTC or not ! help sat here freezing :(

In your case as you rent I don't really know. I would have thought it would be up to the landlord to sort out, as any grant you get will benefit him, not you, financially.

as a tenant you can not get a grant, nor do you need one as it is up to the landlord to maintain a working heating system

Wrong and wrong boyos.
YOU CAN get a warmfront grant in rented property.
A favourite trick amongst the landlords in Dewsbury/Batley is to move a teenage single mum for a year into a three bed house, get the free central heating (Ideal isar, so i guess allah gets 'em back  ) and then move 'em out and let the house to a more lucrative tenant.

Do I qualify for Warm Front?
If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £2,700 (or ?4,000 if oil central heating is involved) under the Warm Front Scheme. Warm Front Grants are available in England only; other schemes operate in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Interesting.
Leaving out the discussions about exactly how bad those warmfront installs are, how on earth can I get a grant to carry out works on a property that is not mine?
The installer would be removing a boiler that belongs to the landlord, and replace it with a piece of junk in a way that is more often than not a far cry from what I would call: a nice job.
I'd say the landlord would have a pretty good case in a lawsuit.

Erm, tricky one that...
(do your own foreign accent for landlord ;) )
Ring ring,
Hello,
Hello, mr landlord I can get you a brand new boiler to replace that piece of **** you haven't even bothered to get a cp12 for for the last 10 years!
Really?
Yeah!
At no cost?
Yeah, you just sign a piece of paper, and the government pays cos i'm dole scum! do you want to do it?
Erm, let me think for a nano-second.... Yeah!!!!

Then off he goes and tells all his slum landlord mates..

Last part is actually genuinely factually true.

Iguana used to give the contractors leaflets telling them, give loads to the customers.

Probably backfired when the boilers failed after a week or two

yes you can get a grant. Any installer registered with the A1 scheme is able to do this. the contract is between the landlord but the grant is available because of your circumstance

Installation all depends on who the installer is - go through process and find out who your installers are going to be.........

Then post them here!!

Received a letter from Warmfront this week asking for Landlords address, I had missed it off the application form, so fingers crossed.
