Would Starmer campaign for Reform?

The regime's official explanation...

Labour sources have told the BBC lots of concerns were raised about the costs of an election to replace Burnham as Greater Manchester mayor and the "prospect of a divisive campaign".

   This must be from the same desk as the excuses for cancelling the elections. Does anyone believe anything they spout any more?

Why would anyone want to be PM, even knowing it's a dead-end job before guaranteed election defeat?

Oh yeah, £115k a year for life would definitely persuade me to give it a go.
It’s low pay when you consider equivalent positions and pay.

He’s obviously a threat.
The all woman shortlist was predictable, but you can’t blame Kieth for wanting to keep him out. Why would a turkey vote for Christmas? There’s a feeling in parts of the party that Starmy is a Bidden like figure and he shouldn’t be allowed to hang on after the May elections (assuming they are going to be the disaster that’s been predicted). I’m not sure it will make a great deal of difference in the long run.

It's a PENSION, not a salary. Liz Truss now gets £115k per year until she's dead, along with every other ex-PM.

They can still work or do whatever they like on top.

This may well be why Burnham wants to be PM for a party that looks to be falling flat on its face with no chance of recovery. It's a few million quid in your bank, set you up for life.

It is worth looking at Andrew Gwyne for a moment - the MP who has resigned the seat that Burnham is being groomed for.

On the plus side, he was born and resides in his (now former) constituency, a rarity for a British MP in an era where we prefer foreigners to do everything. His constituency of Denton borders that of Angela Rayner.

But the best thing about Gwynne was that he had some private messages exposed recently, in which he slagged off some of his constituents. He mockingly suggested a reply to someone who had complained about bin collections: "f*ck your bins, I'm re-elected and without your vote".

He also claimed to have 'long covid'. What a dick.

I wonder what the local reaction is to Burnham being blocked, might the safe seat not be as safe as they think.

Yep I have said the trump win was the fault of the people hiding bidens gaffs and the rest protecting him that meant they couldn’t hide it any longer and had no choice other than to have kamala step in rather than finding the best candidate to fight trump.
For labour to have a chance they need to swap starmer ASAP to give them a chance of winning against farage and they have just tied both hands behind their own backs.

What's more, look at all the BS being pushed out as to why he is being blocked - we all know the real reason - its just lies - like they lied about the ID cards like they are lying about the climate you are being treated like little children who will believe everything they are told.
Also brunham has just told Manchester that he no longer wants to be their mayor how does that sit with the people of manchester.. I see he has just put out a squirming tweet promising commitment to the job -5 mins ago he was quitting you can not trust any of them.
Meanwhile an older tweet from starmer speaking out and condemning the very way that burnham has just been blocked -- you can not trust any of them.

It’s never too late for a U turn but in fairness Starmmer would be mad to let him back in. The all women short list is the most plausible reason he could come up with.

He is mad not to let him in- labour with Starmer will never win against farage. Starmer is saving his own skin at the the demise of Labour.
