Hello all I am looking to build a car port similar to this next to my house.

gallery2.jpg

It will be level to the front of the house but down the side only, We only have the railway next to our house as the neighbour and we arnt in a conservation area etc

I currently have a brick built lean to extension with a flat roof which I will just extend the roof over about 3 meters to brick pillars on the other side.

here is a sketch

not sure what planning, building regs etc I will need.

Thanks in advance

thanks big all,

had a look at the planning portal. Think I got most of the techno babble on there. Just another question.

Our house was built in the 60's and Possibly has had the lean to extension fitted since then and also a 2 storey extension on the front, all though there is no record of when these were fitted. If I want to add the car port do I have to subtract the square footage from the car port of these extensions. Or can I stick up the maximum size permitted for a car port. On the side as a permitted development.

And would I need to pay someone from building control to poke around my business..

Just to clarify, I have highlighted the front extension in green, and the side extension in blue, and where I would like to put a carport in big enough for 2 cars and a bit extra.

but it would be an extension to the flat rood of the lean to on the side. Not sure whether I need planning or whether it permitable.

Thanks in advance.
