Got some wrapped (coloured plastic stuff I guess) MDF cornice trim for my kitchen. Need to do mitre cuts so that I can fit it, but the wrap is tending to chip when my mitre saw blade goes through it.

Are there ways to stop this from happening? eg cover the part I’m cutting with tape before cutting, to hold it all together?

thanks.

A finer blade.

Alter how it's cut to avoid blade breakthrough and chipping

Masking tape

Invert the piece, cut from front face to back, use a very fine tooth blade, ideally a triple chip grind if using a mitre saw
