Hi guys..

We have a honeywell 3 port valve and horstmann cylinder, wall stat and programmer which was fitted recently..spent a week looking for a heating engineer to do the work but all too busy, so a sparks mate of mine came around to fit these with me..both heating and hot water now work fine ..except the 3 port valve remains open [heating side] even when the wall stat is satisfied..this remains in this position unless the tank stat asks for heat then the 3 port valve moves to the hot water postion...
strange goings on !! any ideas please???

That's ok it should work like that.
If heating was last port of call it will stay in that position when satisfied till hw called for.
It will be held in last position by 230v on the grey wire to the valve from either the hw off at programmer or hw satisfied at the cylinder stat.
