You would have thought that some dimmer manufactuer would have spotted this gap in the market and built dimmer units with a seperate inlet for each outlet so the load can be spread arround low rated sockets as required.

IIRC something like a zero88 betapack can be rewired in this way - it can be fed from 32 amp single phase, 16 amp three phase or three 13 amp plugtops using the links on the back. Probably better just to use more than one smaller dimmer pack though. If I go on the blue room I'll just end up on there for hours, had a sneaky peek at the job ads though

And they should have put the drill bit the other way round, not with the sharp end pointing upwards - it could have someone's eye out like that.

Yeah, the neutrals between pairs of sockets on betapacks can be separated so you can wire it to 3 single phase plugtops if you so wish.
They can also be fed from 63A single phase, or as mine are now 32A 3 phase (to allow 20A per channel pair.)

Possibly, but it's no worse than any of the pther photos on that site, and they can't all be set-ups....
