Yet another mass school shooting in US.........

And Switzerland also has a high rate of gun violence compared with other European countries
The country has about 2 million privately owned guns in a nation of 8.3 million people.
In 2016, the country had 47 attempted homicides with firearms. The country's overall murder rate is near zero.

Whichever way the arguments are carved up, the bottom line is that there is a direct correlation between gun ownership and gun violence.
In general probably, but it may also have to do with the mentality of a country/population.

Iceland has 5x the number of guns per head than the UK and yet a third of gun related deaths in comparison (and most of those are rural suicides).

Rate of deaths per 100,000 people:

Switzerland 3.1

UK 0.23

Stricter gun controls = fewer deaths

Certainly in the US that is true. Its a country with a disfunctional society with a great deal of difference between poor and rich.

Switzerland is one of the richest and happiest places in the world.

Violent crime murder is 14 times higher in the UK. So Switzerland is still the safer place to live.

That 'happiness' survey is a joke!
(Israel at 11th are 'happy' with their situation? - mind you it could explain a lot!)

And Switzerland (excluding dignitas) has twice the suicide rate as the UK.

So not only could that account for the increased gun deaths, but is at odds with it's 'happiness' rating.

Stats can prove anything if you want them too ;)

Of course America is excluded from that last statement because they are a bonkers nation!

I wasnt using any happiness survey, just pointing out that Switzerland has, or at least it would seem, a more functional society than America, which as you say is a bonkers nation.

Im not sure if suicide rates are an indication of happiness of a country or not.

If they do, then those socialist scandinavian countries arent very good.

But then Egypt has the lowest suicide rate anywhere in the world at 0.1

The one thing that doesnt vary is that high gun control equates to low gun violence.

Switzerland may have high gun ownership, but it has tight gun control.
