Really?

Yes, really!

Took a risk on a new boiler and bought the Atag A325 ECX - had the storage tank, cylinder and floor boiler from many years ago removed. Good job too as the flue had two holes in it (one massive gaping one) due to rust!

Installer spent two days putting in the new system, was mega impressed with his work ethic and cleanliness. The boiler itself is fantastic and the installer whilst not quite converted seemed reasonably impressed!

All down to the excellent advice on these forums... thanks again!

Just going to get the TRV's installed and have the system flushed one final time in a week to complete the job. It is running like a champ now and so quiet!

Thanks for the feedback - glad you are happy with the boiler.

Did you get the Weather Sensor fitted? This kind of weather will bring it into its own.

if you still have time you could get the wyse installer and forget about the TRVs, in at least the room where its fitted...

Or maybe you could fit the WiZe.

Thought you fitted ATAG, Alex?

LeeC not from BHL are you? Now that would be funny.

As to the controller at the moment have a bog standard wireless controller fitted, as not entirely sure about the responses from Atag.

The house itself seems to be retaining heat remarkably well, much more so than I expected, but has only been a day so far.

I'm going to get the TRV's installed as long term seems a good idea. We don't use some rooms at all during the day so would be a waste to have them heated when not required.

As to the WiZe controller, again unsure as not entirely sure what Atag tech support are telling me regarding how it works with the weather compensation sensor and boiler settings. Do have the weather compensation sensor but not installed yet.

Quick question, does it need to be installed on a north facing wall and high up (4m or higher in my house) to be most effective?

it should be installed as you say....but sometimes there is an inevitable compromise...so keep it on the North wall if possible.....

The best solution is to use the WiZe (sorry LeeC) with the outdoor sensor.

You wont then have to make any adjustment other than to the WiZe, just like any other programmer....

Why is the heating on at this time of year?

It's for testing of course, and cleaning the system out. Has Sentinel X400 in the system which will be drained and removed in a few days. Also it was getting nippy a week ago - 5 degrees C!

As to the advice, thanks ALEC, unfortunately I have no North facing walls, the only wall that is any good would be south or east facing.

Have now changed some settings on the boiler - bit complicated doing it through the front panel but nothing to worry about.
