So i decided to clean the filter of the machine even though there were no problems. Cleaned it, put it back and.... water! ... on the floor. Pouring out through the two holes u can see either side of the centri bit. Were there some kind of ball bearings at those two holes that i've lost. Strange that the water is coming out so freely.

Help appreciated

I very much appreciate ur speedy response Cakeman as this needs sorted quickly, but are u sure? and can u explain what happened? to go from working fine to not working at all just like that? having looked at the seal and possible routes for the water to pour out as it is, it doesn't even seem possible.

Thanks

Its just a simple case of wear and tear mixed with a bit of bad luck

lots of people would simply ditch a machine to landfill for this kind of problem .
Good for you

I have to say Cakeman - i thought the self assurance of ur diagnosis was odd - especially given my description of the problem. Whadaya know - it just wasn't tightened properly. Although to be fair it really does have to be tightened - threads might be a bit dodgy. Certainly not a job the average woman could do.

You don't do chemical injection damp proofing do u Cakeman? ;)

There you go hib
always best to check things are fastened tight enough when putting back together
hope you don't work at the tyre garage that puts the wheels back on my car ;) ;)
chemical injection damp proofing seems like a nice life
don't discriminate against women , i reckon kim on 'i'm a celebrity show ' thing could tighten it more than us

Sometimes when removing the filter crud (bits of stone etc) get caught in the thread preventing it from tightening properly and allowing it to leak a little.

Just check the thread on the cap and in the filter housing each time to make sure they are free.
