Zebrite on a cast iron fireplace

I have a cast iron fireplace which was a very matt black finish. The soften the look i had it zebrited. However, you can now see some brush strokes of where this stuff was painted on. Is there anyway to get rid of this. I have buffed it up with a brush etc but the marks are not shifting.

I forgot to mention that this is a reproduction combination fireplace that came in matt finish (if that helps).
