ive painted radiators before with gloss radiator paint, looked a bit untidy i thought. Ive just recently taken my downstairs radiators off the walls, going to take them outside and try spraying them this time, hopefully will give a nicer finish
to answer your question directly, yes i think you need to use a paint designed to be used on radiators rather than just any old paint.
The spray on radiator enamel works really well. Give the radiator a good sanding with wet and dry to give a good key first and remove all of the fixtures and fittings. If you dont go for the spray, try Rustins radiator enamel, it doesn't yellow at all. Ive even used it for skirting boards because it stays white for so long..
