TV and phone extensions: Can I use CT100 and CAT5e?

There's not much difference in cost now between 100Mb and Gigabit switches and adaptors unless you go after managed switches (Cisco kit for example) which would be used in big corporate installations.... it's just futureproofing.

That's what I always tell the Missus

Wobbin, Lectrician, MasterAbacus...

...I have yet to connect my phone extensions to the master socket, and was wondering if a simple patch panel would be a wise move.

I'm guessing that I just fit RJ45 plugs to the ends of what would be the phone cables, and the master socket is connected directly to the patch panel - or do I need something else in between? I'm not intending to fit a PBX (yet!)

I'm planning to fit a new ADSL faceplate to the NTE5 master socket. I trust I won't need any more filtering at the phone sockets?

Thanks again in advance for your advice.
