A little boy is walkng with his grandad. They reach a bridge, and the little boy notices his father approaching the other side of the bridge. The little boy and his grandad begin their walk over the bridge, and the father does the same from the other side. No one else has got onto the bridge, or were already on it. When they meet in the middle, there are 4 people. Why is this?

in the first line you say walkng instead of walking. is tis a typo or a clue?

It says THE father not HIS father. So THE father could be any man that had fathered children as well as the childs father (two fathers).
