I don't have the same sort of problem that some on here have with immigration but there is a serious point here. The current situation is not normal and needs to be looked at seriously. Tens of thousands have travelled already and when word gets back that they are successfully landing in Italy and making their way unhindered through Europe there will be hundreds of thousands more.
Several thousand now line up on the other side of the Channel determined to get to the UK. What happens when there are tens of thousands? What happens if they start setting off in boats and rafts by the thousand? It's not a long way and if they are prepared to risk the hundred miles or so across the Med it won't be long before they set off across the Channel.
And with the greatest respect to the graph above it doesn't really tell the whole story. Immigration to Germany is high and Italy also. Although the Italy figures are obviously skewed because they are the first port of call. But those figures do not compare to the UK when you compare in terms of overall population and land mass. None of those Countries do! Somebody said they were shocked at Sweden, but Sweden has a population of less than 10million and land mass nearly twice that of the UK. The only country that does get close to the UK is Germany. So you have Germany and the UK taking the brunt of it. And which two countries pay for the rest of Europe? Funny that isn't it.
And I'm not talking about general immigration. I've said before I've got no real issue with it. As far as I'm concerned people come, people go and the World keeps turning. But, to repeat myself, this is not normal and has the potential to change this Country beyond recognition.

What percentage are murderers and rapists? What percentage of the illegals at Calais are terrorists, or will become terrorists? What other crimes are these people guilty of in their homelands? What else do you know about the illegals who are breaking into lorries, slashing curtain-sides, spoiling loads, threatening drivers and throwing stones through their windscreens?
If you have reliable statistics or inside knowledge about the economic migrants who are using violence and criminal damage to come here illegally, maybe you should share them with us.

None more or less reliable than anything anyone else has managed to produce.
Not being an asylum seeker means that her situation means nothing in this debate.

Glad to hear that the Isle of Wight economy has progressed.Indeed. She's not an economic migrant either. As I explained, we'd be much better off returning to her country.
