Bloody Brexit

Surly if it is all one sentence, there should be a comer in there after "week".. Otherwise they are two separate sentences. I didn't believe that we would have an emergency Brexit budget either but they lied about that..

These remainers on here keep talking about brexit LIES, but all they can put up is one stupid advert on a bus that could be interpreted differently according to what side you are on.
My interpretation of that advert was that if this money is not given to the EU it will be available to spend on more important things, simple really but some desperate cnts will say anything to try to win an argument that they've already lost.
By well over a million votes.:D:D

There should be a full stop, then a capital letter if the two lines are separate sentences.

Even if they were two sentences, I do not see how it would alter the meaning or make the second not a consequence of the first.

Perhaps Himmy's or John D's research staff can find Nigel, Boris or Mike saying that is what it meant.

It will rain tomorrow you will get wet if you go out.
It will rain tomorrow; you will get wet if you go out.
It will rain tomorrow. You will get wet if you go out.

Does anyone think any of those means that getting wet will not be a consequence of it raining
or the third one alludes to there being a man with a hose-pipe just around the corner?

I think that Camerons comments about the end of civilisation in Europe may be accurate... After all his leather clad mistress has filled the Continent with blood thirsty cut throats. Roll on Brexit and the return of properly policed borders... It seems that there was another one of Himaginn's pals chopping folk with a machete in Germany today and Friday's little exercise have shown that the German police really don't have a clue how to deal with it..

There are examples of posters from early in the campaign which did say that literally that all the £350M could/should go to the NHS, but the campaign appear to have altered the message at some point, presumably after realising the error. The message on the bus, above, does not logically promise all the £350M to the NHS.

But this is still a moot point since no one seems to have voted Leave because they thought the full figure would go the NHS. (It is also wrong the blame Nigel, who had no input into the Vote Leave campaign)

I would accept that, if only because the 350m does not allow for the rebate and return funding here by the EU.

However, apart from all the semantics, surely the tell-tale word on the bus is "instead".

you will get wet if you go out.

They are now two completely different statements....If you went out, does that mean that you were on fire? and would you get wet if someone doused you with a bucket of water to put the fire out..?

How are you getting on for the explanation of no post brexit budget? We were told this would happen...

I did not believe them either.

I think you will find I have been honest with both sides throughout the referendum campaign.
In fact, I irritated someone in particular by continually pointing out that NOBODY KNOWS what would happen either way.

Indeed, nobody does know there are far too many variables, but looking across to mainland Europe, I do believe that we are headed to a far better position than we were... Only time will tell but it is right and fitting that we take what we have and make what we can from it.. Willing ourselves to fail is not productive.

I read the bus thing to be an example, not a promise, but anyway... those who said that the money would go to the NHS know little how politics work - Nigel never had the power to do that and I doubt very much if Johnson did then either. Still, it was an emotive subject and it worked.

I thought the campaign from both sides was appalling, full of utter bull, comparing stuff to Hitler and gas chambers, promising the earth. I voted remain because of the unknown in leaving. I also didn't see a solid plan put forward by the leavers which I thought was a bit nuts! We were voting blindly. But as EFL put it, nobody knew what would happen.

. Willing ourselves to fail is not productive.
This I agree with wholeheartedly. Said it before here, what is done is done, we just gotta put our best out there and make good of it all, if not better. Interesting times :)

We will be far better off vis a vis immigration, not letting a shed load of murderous have free access etc.
You do know that they said day after the campaign that immigration probably wouldn't change don't ya?

The point is that if it doesn't change, our government can be held to account for it in future after brexit.

Fair enough and fair point!
I wonder if the government would ever listen tho? They have a horrible habit of promising when it comes to election time for nothing to ever materialise once they've got in....

On curbing immigration I wouldn't trust labour, tories or liberals, but at least now that there has been a clear vote in favour of doing that (that's what it was all about I reckon), they'll have to think hard before trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes again.

The thing is, until a few weeks ago, it didn't matter what the PM did in office.. He could make a complete dogs dinner of the country as long as he followed the EU requirement and be assured a cushy job in the EU. This option is now closed (Or should be) to them so they now have to do a little to impress whilst in office
