need to channel in some 8mm central heating pipes, and they are just where i want to fit a new lightswitch, can i run the cable down the same channel or do they need to be kept a set distance apart??

dulux trade supermatt is the daddy when it comes to new plaster. but you still need to water it down for the first coat.

is it an old door frame / door. if its new the only think i can think off if you say its not from the knots is some varnish / sealent which didn`t take or some kind of glue from the joints, but seems unlikely

your home base piant hasn`t bonded with the plaster very well. either very dusty or to smooth, also i normaly do 1 water to 3 paint, so at 1/4 your paint may have had all the water sucked out to quickly. go down to a dulux trade centre and get some dulux trade super matt, they also do a...

If you are going to strip off the old paint, then you will probably need to get it done professionally, either dipped or sand blasted, You can get very high temperature paints for BBQs etc, i believe the do a colour choice. or once it is stripped black lead it.

Skim teh wall first, it is always easier as you won`t have all the loose bits and you are tiling onto a flat surface. makes life much easier then trying to save a bad job.
