can i replace a danfoss bho 11.1 control box with a bho 12.1 box.?. It works, but what is the difference?

Not a problem!
The 11.1 has a 5 sec post ignition time when the oil valve opens.
If the flame does not light when the oil valve opens on the 12.1 the burner goes to lockout straight away. 12.1 would normally be used on the slightly larger burner to prevent oil spillage in the furnace.
