What would be a true effect or what could realistically happen if no corrosion inhibitor is added to a central heating / primary circuit after draining down a system?
it will corrode, fill up with sludge, the pump will wear out from sediment, the boiler will bang and kettle, the radiators will fill up with gas and sediment, and eventually the radiators will get holes and start to leak. This may happen before or after the sludge blocks the pipes and the system stops working.
